We invest greatly in South Africa’s employed and unemployed youth through various development programmes and support training and education linked to youth unemployment through pivotal initiatives. Opportunities include our Retail Readiness Programme (RRP), the Youth Employment Services (YES) initiative, and comprehensive study bursaries in several academic fields.

Retail Readiness Programme (RRP)

This skills programme provides young people, who are without previous work experience, with the basic skills to work in a retail environment. 

It comprises of five weeks of practical training and two weeks of theory, and successful participants receive a NQF level 3 qualification upon completion.


WHO CAN APPLY?

South African youth between 18 and 34 years with no previous work experience. 

REQUIREMENTS

A South African Matric or an equivalent qualification.

Youth Employment Services (YES)

The Youth Employment Service is a business-driven initiative with government and labour departments that builds economic pathways for youth to help reduce unemployment. 

The programme provides 12 months of on-the-job training where participants are exposed to various parts of the retail business. On completion, successful YES learners are skilled to work in retail or start their own retail business.

South African youth between 18 and 34 years.

Bursary opportunities

Our comprehensive bursaries support students studying or intending to study a variety of scarce skills, providing financial assistance towards tuition and on-campus accommodation. 

Bursaries are also linked to work-back agreements, ensuring job opportunities upon graduation. 

Students enrolled for degree studies in criminology, accounting, information technology, retail business management and more can apply for a bursary. 

Applications open in February and again in July of each year for study in the following academic year. 


WHO CAN APPLY?
  • South African youth under 27 years
  • Registered for undergraduate or post-graduate degree study at an accredited university
REQUIREMENTS
