The Langa Sports Complex was a hive of activity last Saturday (6 April 2019) when more than 100 learners participated in a community cleanup event hosted by the Shoprite Group and the Vusa Rugby and Learning Academy.

We were greatly encouraged by the turn-out. It was a great opportunity to show the learners that one is never too young to give back to your community, and a staggering 231kg of recyclable material was collected during the event.

Vusa aims to bring about social upliftment for under-privileged children through sports and academics.

As with all the cleanup events which Shoprite supports, recycling is key. Thus all recyclable materials was collected by recycler Packa-Ching, ensuring that as little waste as possible ended up in landfills.

Anyone interested in hosting a cleanup in their community are encouraged to visit www.actforchange.africa for more information.
