More than 8 000 unique hand-made articles were entered for the Pretty Things for Little Things project presented by Age-in-Action and sponsored by Shoprite Checkers. The project annually invites all Shoprite customers, especially our senior citizens, to use their craft or stitch-craft talents to make something for a needy child in four categories namely soft toys, blankets, clothing, and other articles made from materials such as wood, tin and wire.
Provincial judging took place on 17 and 18 September and the national winners were chosen on 26 September.
The national winners in each category for 2007 are:

In each of the categories, three prizes of Shoprite or Checkers gift vouchers were awarded in each province; a first prize of R2 000, a second prize of R1 500 and a third prize of R1 000. The three prizes in each of the categories on a national level were; first prize of R5 000, second prize of R3 000 and third prize of R2 000.
The winners will be treated to a social event in conjunction with Age-in-Action later this month and the names of the national winners will be featured in the December issue of Woman’s Value and dit magazines.
The beautiful articles created by all contestants will again this year warm the hearts of needy children when they are distributed later this year for an early Christmas present.
