Cape Town’s Aneesah Van der Schyff (22) was recently awarded a place in the Shoprite Group’s SAP Academy after completing her Honours in Information Systems from the University of the Western Cape in December 2021.

“Shoprite funded my honours degree, which reduced financial stress on my family and me and allowed me to focus on my studies. It has also provided me with an opportunity to gain valuable work experience within the SAP Academy.”

She says she looks forward to using this experience to grow in her chosen career and intends to learn from others to better understand what the industry requires from its future leaders.

“I believe this bursary, and the placement at the SAP Academy, will help me develop my skills to add real value to the company,” says Van der Schyff.

Applications for the Shoprite Group’s bursary programme are now open for the 2022 and 2023 academic years. These bursaries offer students in the fields of accounting, food sciences and information technology an opportunity to further their studies - and then go on to work for Africa’s largest retailer. Registered university students with a 65% aggregate or higher are encouraged to apply by visiting the Bursary page.
