The Shoprite Group recently showed their appreciation for the healthcare workers fighting the Covid-19 pandemic at the National District Hospital in the Free State.
Care packages containing snacks, water and essential toiletries like soap and waterless hand sanitisers were distributed to medical and support personnel, along with greeting cards specially drawn by children from early childhood development centres supported by Shoprite.
“Our healthcare workers are working around the clock and it is good to know that companies like Shoprite are behind us.”
- Dr Mahmoud Malek, Chief Executive Officer for the National District Hospital
Last month the Shoprite Group also donated care packages to the Free State Department for Health, for distribution amongst Covid-19 patients at the Pelonomi, Universitas, National District and Free State Psychiatric hospitals.
“We place great value on the communities we serve, and we will continue to support those impacted by this pandemic.”
- Lunga Schoeman, CSI Manager for the Shoprite Group
Since the start of the pandemic the Group has donated thousands of care packages to hospitals in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Free State, KwaZulu Natal and the Western Cape.
