Seniors around South Africa were recently treated as part of the the Shoprite Group’s initiative to honour the elderly in the month of October.

This countrywide initiative sees the retailer partnering with old-aged homes and advocacy group, Age-in-Action, to celebrate older South Africans by organising parties for them, where among other activities, they interact with staff members.

Almost 600 Port Elizabeth seniors were recently treated to boerewors, prizes and much more at the Feather Market Hall.

“The laughter in the rooms or around the braai fire took years off their faces. Some were dancing while others were reminiscing on years gone by. We are hopeful that our senior citizens will walk away feeling appreciated. They’ve helped to shape us and they need to know that we value them.”

Boksburg seniors enjoyed a delicious lunch and treats at St Anthony's Day Care Centre for the Aged.
