Earlier today (5 October 2017) the honourable Amelia Kyambadde, Uganda’s Minister of Trade, Industries and Cooperatives, officially launched Shoprite’s Buy Uganda, Build Uganda promotion which puts locally produced goods in the spotlight.
Following the opening of Shoprite’s first store in Uganda in 2000, Africa’s largest food retailer has over the years worked tirelessly to grow its offering of local products and has kept to its promise of lower prices always. At least 72% of the fresh produce sold in its two supermarkets are sourced locally and at least 45% of all the other products are bought from local Uganda manufactured suppliers, highlighting Shoprite’s commitment to the growth of the Ugandan economy.
Local suppliers are subjected to the same stringent quality standards and demanding targets expected of Shoprite’s international suppliers.
Entrepreneurs and small businesses are encouraged to work with Shoprite in its bid to bring proudly Ugandan products to households across the country.
Participants in the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda promotion include Freshcuts Uganda, Numa Feeds, Ahmed Raza Foods Industries, Maganjo Millers, Kiboko Enterprises, Britania Industries, Movit Limited, Malaika Honey, Haris International, Vital Tomosis Dairies, Volcafe Uganda, Afri-Pads Uganda and Eagle Holdings.
There are a number of excellent special offers available for the duration of the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda promotion which runs until Sunday 15 Oct 2017.
