South Africans can join forces with the Shoprite Group this festive season to bring joy to thousands of less fortunate people around the country by simply getting their gifts wrapped or donating just R5 or more at any of the Group’s stores nationwide.

Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores will be offering a Gift Wrapping service in the lead up to Christmas. For a nominal donation of just R5 or more, customers can take advantage of this added convenience by getting their gifts wrapped for a good cause from 5 December to 24 December 2016. All proceeds from this Gift Wrapping service will be donated to charity organisations which have been chosen by each of the stores.

Over the past few years, this Christmas Gift Wrapping service has raised in excess of R2-million for the respective beneficiary organisations. This year, the Group is looking to improve on this significantly with the help of customers across the country.

Another way for customers to give responsibly this festive season is to simply donate R5 or more at the till point of any Shoprite or Checkers store to the Group’s #ActForChange fund. Proceeds from the Fund during December and January will be donated to FoodForward SA who are working to feed thousands of hungry South African’s over festive season. Every R5 donated will help FoodForward SA to provide five meals for hungry South Africans this festive season.

The Shoprite Group has a proud tradition of reaching out to the communities in which it operates to uplift and support them, especially where there is an identified need. The Christmas Gift Wrapping service and #ActForChange Fund are just two simple ways in which customers can take hands for even greater impact.

In addition to this, The Group is hosting over 60 Christmas parties at children’s homes, old age homes and care facilities around the country this December, bring some much needed festive cheer to the lives of around 12,000 people.
