Shoprite and Checkers annually presents the Toy 4 Toy campaign that urges customers to donate new or used toys to needy children during the festive season. Through the generous donations received from members of the public, more than 7 000 toys were collected and distributed to children throughout South Africa by the Nataniël Progress Project and BADISA during December 2011.

For every toy that consumers donated, Shoprite Checkers promised to give something too. In keeping with this promise, Shoprite and Checkers presented BADISA and the Nataniël Progress Project with a donation of R100 000 each.

On 19 December 2011, Sufura Sheriff (Public Relations Officer: Checkers Gauteng) presented Nataniël with a cheque for R100 000 towards the Nataniël Progress Project.

Shoprite and Checkers' Manager of Public Relations and CSI, Maryke Visser (on the left), presented Ronel van Zyl (Director: Social Services, BADISA) with a cheque for R100 000 to assist in the significant work they do toward the upliftment and support of children and communities throughout South Africa.
Thank you to everyone who donated a toy and assisted Shoprite Checkers, BADISA and the Nataniël Progress Project in adding joy to the lives of so many of our country’s less fortunate children!
