Shoprite has partnered with the Alfred Duma local municipality to clean up parts of Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, following the floods earlier this year.

More than 20 Shoprite employees participated in the clean-up event, and the retailer also donated refuse bags, gloves and visors to the volunteers.

Shoprite is no stranger to hosting cleanups in the communities in which it trades. It hosted Africa’s Biggest Cleanup in 2018 and since then has regularly supported clean-up events in communities across South Africa.

“We are always eager to take hands with the local communities and this is a wonderful example of how a small group of active citizens are making a difference by working together. We are proud to act for change by cleaning and keeping public areas in Ladysmith clean.”

- Judith Maluleka, Shoprite Group CSI Manager

This partnership further extends Shoprite’s ongoing support of communities in KwaZulu-Natal.
