After a major refurbishment, Checkers Newcastle officially relaunched its new state-of-the-art supermarket on Thursday, 18 November 2021.
Checkers Newcastle now promises greater convenience and an elevated customer experience including wider aisles as well as the introduction of brand-new in-store services, such as a coffee bar, sushi bar, in-store MediRite pharmacy, TechX where customers can find the best tech deals, a party shop with helium bar and wrapping station, and a spice bar.
Some of the other attractions include:
- freshly-made artisanal breads, delicious pastries and luxury cakes,
- more than 400 local and international cheeses,
- wines from over 100 leading estates as well as authentic French champagne and the widest range of Italian prosecco,
- premium quality meat including the best boerewors, South Africa’s favourite supermarket steak brand with more than 19 cuts, Simple Truth Certified Natural Lamb and Farmstead Pork endorsed by the South African Chefs Association (SACA).
The Money Market counter offers customers a wide range of value-added services, including payment of municipal accounts, money transfers, top up of data, airtime or electricity, purchasing gift cards or savings stamps, buying tickets, and even taking out insurance.
The supermarket is managed by seasoned Branch Manager, Nishi Singh, who joined the Shoprite Group in 1985 and has more than 36 years’ experience in retail.
Checkers Newcastle's trading hours are 08:00 – 20:00 from Mondays to Sundays.
