With more than 100 million YouTube views, Master KG and Nomcebo’s hit single Jerusalema not only has dancers worldwide on their feet, but the #JerusalemaChallenge also provided Raymond Seema with the perfect occasion to propose to his partner, Dineo Mashilo, outside Shoprite Potgietersrus.
When Seema (30) saw the supermarket employees practising their dance step for the challenge, which has been led by frontline workers from all sectors, he called Mashilo (25) and told her to meet him at Shoprite Potgietersrus.
“When I arrived there was a great atmosphere and I got so caught up watching the dancing that I hardly noticed Raymond next to me on one knee. When I saw him I couldn’t believe my eyes. It came as a total surprise! I could hardly contain my excitement,” said an elated Mashilo.
Both Seema and Mashilo work at the Mogalakwena Mine outside Mokopane and have known each other since high school. Mashilo made him wait for a whole year before she agreed to go on a date with Seema. “Now, 12 years later, we’re making it official and I couldn’t be happier with the way he proposed and the fact that we will spend the rest of our lives together.”
Lobola negotiations will take place soon and the couple will be considered married as soon as these have been concluded. “I do want a white wedding. We haven’t discussed when that will happen, but it will have to be after the Coronavirus crisis,” says Mashilo.
The Shoprite Group’s supermarket employees have enthusiastically embraced the #JerusalemaChallenge, with videos of them cropping up on social media as they join the thousands of frontline workers who have been taking on this dance challenge.
