  • With the opening of two Shoprite stores, the Group created more than 110 new jobs in a week. 
  • This is a critical contribution given South Africa’s high unemployment rate of 29% in 2019.
  • The Shoprite Group employs more than 147 000 people across 15 countries.

Shoprite created 71 new jobs with the opening of its new store at the Sam Ntuli Mall in Katlehong, Gauteng.

The store’s total staff complement is 132, which includes 95 women and 114 youth (between the ages of 18 and 35).

Shoprite Mabopane Square opens, creating more than 40 new jobs

The store will be managed by seasoned Branch Manager, John Mazibuko, who joined the Shoprite Group in 1988 and has more than 30 years experience in retail.

The Group also opened the door to its new Shoprite supermarket at Mabopane Square, Gauteng, creating 44 new jobs.

Customers eagerly gathered to be amongst the first to benefit from the store’s opening specials and were treated to plenty of in-store competitions.

Both Shoprite supermarkets offer customers a convenient shopping experience with a number of in-store fresh food departments including a Meat Market, Hot & Cold Foods Deli, Bakery and Fresh Fruit & Vegetables. 

The Money Market Counter offers customers a wide range of value-added services, including payment of municipal accounts, buying national lottery, bus, airline or Computicket event tickets, and much more.
