As the country celebrates 55 years of independence, Shoprite Zambia opens the doors to its brand new supermarket in Woodlands, Lusaka on Thursday, 24 October.

“This world-class supermarket offers 3 100 m2 of retail space and is the 38th store to open since our ground-breaking entry into the Zambian retail market in 1995.”

- Charles Bota, General Manager of Shoprite Zambia

Shoprite Woodlands will serve residents of the capital’s new suburbs Chalala and New Kasama and is the retailer’s first supermarket in Zambia with an in-store cafe, where customers can enjoy the fare bought at its various fresh food departments.

“There are 115 employees at the new Shoprite Woodlands, which means we now provide direct employment for 4 715 Zambians of which 52% are women and 80% are people under the age of 34.”

Customers at Shoprite Woodlands can look forward to a superior shopping experience, with quality products at the lowest prices including an improved range of convenience meals and a greater selection of healthier food products.

As part of the retailer’s commitment to the communities in which it trades, the opening will see Shoprite Woodlands donate items to the value of K15 000 to a local charity organisation,  Open Arms Home and Family Community which cares 250 vulnerable and orphaned children.

Shoprite Woodlands will be open from 08:00 - 20:00 from Mondays to Sundays, including public holidays.
