New appointments: Charles Ochse and Phillip Nhlanhla

The Shoprite Group recently announced a number of new senior appointments in its Buying divisions, effective from 1 January 2019.

Charles Ochse – Chief Foods Buyer 

Ochse joined Checkers in 1990 as a Trainee Manager and served as Admin Manager, Fresh Foods Manager, Sales Manager, Branch Manager and Trainee Buyer over the years. In 1995, Ochse was promoted to Buyer and in 1999 he became Head Buyer for the Free State division.  In 2001 he was appointed as the Head Buyer for the Great North division.

Phillip Nhlanhla – Divisional Head Buyer 

Phillip Nhlanhla replaces Ochse as Head Buyer for the Great North division. Nhlanhla, who holds a BCom from Vista University (now the Vaal University of Technology) joined the Group in 2005 as Trainee Manager, and held various roles in the supermarket divisions before joining the food buying division in 2010. Nhlanhla was promoted to Senior Buyer at the beginning of 2018.
