We have stepped in to supplement the work being done by Lydia Hlophe and the Yenzanathi Community Upliftment Programme to feed the community in Botha’s Hill in KwaZulu-Natal.

Yenzanathi, a non-profit organisation, provides food, mainly for children, the elderly, sick and unemployed through a soup kitchen.

Hlophe initially provided food twice a week to 10 houses. Now Yenzanathi, which registered as a NGO in 2007, is feeding over 250 people.

When, during 2016, we heard what Yenzanathi was doing, we immediately dispatched a Mobile Soup Kitchen to provide additional support.

We have since, in partnership with Food & Trees for Africa, helped Yenzanathi establish a large vegetable garden. It is maintained by beneficiaries who recieve food to eat as well as the skills to maintain a sustainable food source.

Yenzanathi will sell produce from their food garden on Market Day, 18 May 2017 Lydia Hlophe from the Yenzanathi Community Upliftment Project
