Shoprite empowers women suppliers by helping them to grow their businesses so as to make a sustainable difference to their lives.
In 2015, thirty women - some casual farm workers, others unemployed women from the community - were brought together by the Timbali Technology Incubator so as to assist these women to become independent farmers in the long run.
We at Shoprite undertook the journey of turning this enterprise into a regular supplier, by building a long term growth plan with them.
The women of Timbali are all business owners. They farm and package quality, fresh produce in volume, and are able to grow their businesses and provide for their families and community.
We will continue on the road of empowerment with the women of Timbali, building a lasting partnership.
