MediRite, the Shoprite Group’s chain of pharmacies, is bringing accessible and affordable healthcare to Mozambique with the opening of its first pharmacy in Maputo.

The standalone MediRite pharmacy (located at Centro Comercial De Shoprite Maputo, Avenida Acordos De Lusaka) provide customers with valuable healthcare support including medical and health products, plus wellness screenings which includes tests to measure blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

The pharmacy employs four local staff members - pharmacist Rosemina Garces, and pharmacy-technicians Aquida Banze, Realdo Langa and Juvencio Matavele. These healthcare professionals will place a large emphasis on quality and compassionate service to their customers.

Following a number of new store openings over the past year, the Shoprite Group now has 27 stores in Mozambique and is committed to provide employment and affordable food, household goods and healthcare products to its citizens.

MediRite operates over 160 dispensaries in South Africa, Swaziland and Angola with the aim of bringing better primary healthcare to the public and meeting the growing need of customers across all income levels for easily accessible and affordable healthcare.  

MediRite is able to use the Shoprite Group network to reduce operational costs and pass these savings onto its customers.

Many MediRite pharmacies are located in underserved communities where few pharmaceutical services are available.
