Shoprite’s Palanca store in Angola is back in business! The store reopens on 28 April 2016 after being closed for more than a year due to a fire that caused widespread damage to it in 2014.
The Shoprite Group reaffirmed its commitment to growing it’s offering in Angola by undertaking a significant rebuild of its Palanca store, which will see the creation of 339 jobs for local Angolans. The Group has already invested more than 25 Billion Kwanzas in Angola since it began operating in 2003, with 440 million Kwanzas specifically earmarked for upcoming projects such as the Palanca store reopening. Through its network of 29 stores, Shoprite has employed and trained more than 4000 people.
To mark this milestone, a vibrant programme of activities has been planned which includes special performances by Afro House star Mestre Dangui, Kuduro dancers and singers, a live DJ, as well as face painting and clowns for the kids. Shoppers can look forward to competitions and spot prizes on the day, in addition to the opening specials that will be on the shelves. Shoprite Group CEO, Whitey Basson will officially open the store together with store manager Manuel Felix Nzinga and his team.
Shoprite customers can look forward to the same everyday low prices and convenience that the retailer has become known for. The new store caters for all customers’ daily, weekly and monthly food and household requirements. Over and above a wide range of food and non-food lines, it features various service departments including a Meat Market, Bakery, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable department, a Hot and Cold Foods Deli as well as a MediRite Pharmacy right in the store. With 30 dedicated till-points and 4 express till-points, the store is more than ready to serve all customer needs.
The Group supports over 150 local suppliers, with more than 3000 local brands and products stocked in its stores across the country. Customers can look forward to these local brands as well as many of the international brands they have come to love.
Shoprite’s Palanca store will be open seven days a week:
• Monday to Friday: 8:00 to 21:00
• Saturday: 8:00 to 21:00
• Sunday and Public Holidays: 8:00 to 21:00
