The Shoprite Group has reinforced its commitment to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) through its sponsorship of this year’s annual Cuppa For CANSA campaign, which launches on 8 June 2016.
The group has already helped to raise over R1-million through its in-store Cuppa events, as well as donating R94 000 to CANSA Care Homes, which house patients undergoing cancer treatment at oncology clinics far from their homes. It is supporting Cuppa For CANSA for the 14th year running.
Cuppa For CANSA encourages companies, associations and individuals to host events and serve beverages and snacks to raise funds for cancer. It is an opportunity to socialise and raise funds, and people can join in by attending as a Cuppa guest or becoming a Cuppa host through a corporate Cuppa in the workplace or a Cuppa at home. There is even the option to host a virtual Cuppa.
Proceeds from the 2016 Cuppa For CANSA campaign will go towards keeping CANSA’s nine Mobile Health Clinics on the road. The clinics travel to remote areas throughout South Africa to make people aware of the benefit of early detection and provide cancer education and screening.
Launch events, sponsored by The Shoprite Group, take place on 8 June 2016 at CANSA’s Head Office in Bedfordview, and at the CANSA Durban, Bloemfontein, Cape Metro and Port Elizabeth Care Centres; with CANSA’s Mobile Health Clinics present.
“Cuppa For CANSA is always grateful to have the support of sponsors such as Shoprite. We’re very excited to see what 2016 has in store,” says Maria Scholtz, CANSA’s head of sustainability.
“We invite you to come and find out about how to become a Cuppa For CANSA host and to meet the friendly CANSA team. Join us at the Cuppa launch events by contacting your local Care Centre via cansa.org.za or call us on our toll-free line 0800 22 6622.”
