South Africa’s largest supermarket group will be heeding the call of the Nelson Mandela Foundation for an international commemoration of Madiba on the first anniversary of his passing on Friday, 05 December 2014.

Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets will pay tribute to the late statesman by observing a three minute silence and singing of the National Anthem at 10:00. This will be preceded by the ringing of bells and the use of vuvuzelas, loudhailers and musical instruments.

The retailer honours the memory of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela as it will never forget the selfless way in which he served our nation and for the positive impact he had on the business community and on each and every individual in South Africa.
