Shoprite and Checkers stores have an exciting range of consumer leaflets to keep their customers informed about aspects concerning a better and healthier lifestyle.

The latest leaflet in the health care range was created in association with the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) to promote their annual Cuppa for Cansa campaign. This year the theme focusses on being a friend to a cancer survivor by sharing HOPE. Research has shown that, in addition to early detection, treatment and care, a positive outlook and support from family and friends play an important role in a cancer survivor’s recovery. Living with cancer requires many unfamiliar lifestyle changes. Practical help is often valuable in assisting a friend who is undergoing cancer treatment to stay optimistic about the new challenges faced every day. The new leaflet provides tips and suggestions about how, through practical assistance and emotional support, one can lighten the load for a cancer survivor and provide hope for a tomorrow that will bring better times.

The Shoprite Checkers supermarket group is proud to be the main sponsor of Cuppa for CANSA, a nationwide initiative hosted by volunteers, partners and members of the public who want to raise awareness and funds for CANSA and show their support for its mission to fight cancer and save lives. Shoprite and Checkers will be facilitating fun and cheerful Cuppa’s in its stores countrywide during June, and will donate the proceeds of all in-store Cuppa events to CANSA. In 2009 Shoprite Checkers raised more than R550 000 that was donated towards the expansion of its prevention programmes and patient care services in under-serviced communities around the country.

The Shoprite and Checkers consumer leaflets demonstrate the supermarket group’s commitment to care for the communities they operate in. The group believes an informed consumer is a better consumer, and aims to provide information and hints on a range of topics that touches the average South African shopper daily.

Next time you visit a Shoprite, Checkers or Checkers Hyper store, remember to visit the consumer board or Money Market where the latest consumer leaflets are displayed. You can also download the leaflet here (.pdf) [131 KB]
