The battle for the Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors crown is heating up! Boerewors-makers from all nine of South Africa’s provinces are preparing their special boerewors ingredients for the first 30 nerve-racking regional rounds taking place on Saturday, 15 August at selected locations countrywide.
An independent judging panel, selected and trained by the South African Chefs Association (SACA) will judge each regional round where prospective Boerewors Champions have to braai 1 kg of their own-recipe boerewors which will be judged raw and cooked.
Chef Martin Kobald, Honorary President of South African Chefs’ Association, says that the South African Chefs’ Association (SACA) is delighted to once again, be involved in the Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors competition. “As an accredited SACA culinary event, this nationally acclaimed competition continues to attract practitioners of one of our country’s oldest food traditions, homemade boerewors. The SACA accredited judging panel looks forward to critiquing the same high standard of ingredient and flavour innovation, as has been exhibited in past successful years of the cookery challenge.”
The remaining regional rounds will take place on 22 and 29 August at selected Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores country wide.
