Our bursary programme, which supports students who are studying scarce skills, helped Kimberly Soobramoney get a degree and a permanent job.
After getting excellent marks in matric, her mother, helped her apply for a bursary and she was awarded a full bursary to complete her studies.
Soobramoney, who is now a trainee Divisional Financial Manager, completed a BCom in Accounting at the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2011 and her CTA (Certificate in the Theory of Accounting) in 2012 though our bursary programme.
She then joined our TOPP (Training Outside Public Practice) programme, which accommodates 30 students a year, to complete her articles and get financial management experience at head office. She has since been offered permanent employment and has moved to our divisional office in Gauteng.
Over the past 20 years, we have awarded over 2 800 annual bursaries to the value of R155 million, providing financial study assistance of up to R70 000 a year. Our bursaries are linked to work-back agreements ensuring employment opportunities after graduation.
